Raised in Northwestern Pennsylvania, Shawn Preston has been playing drums and percussion for nearly 20 years. Currently residing in Northern Virginia, Shawn enjoys and active schedule as a performer, educator, clinician and composer. Currently playing with the Melanie Moore Band, Shawn has also enjoyed a wide variety of other projects. During his time in the U.S. Marine Corps, he was part of the world famous "Commandant's Own" United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps where he played snare drum.

Shawn studied music at Mansfield, Slippery Rock, and George Mason Universities, where he was an active member of marching band, wind ensemble, jazz band, orchestra, and percussion ensemble. Outside of school, Shawn has enjoyed playing in various rock bands as well as honing his rudimental skills in the drum and bugle corps arena both as a performer, and as an educator/arranger.
