Marcelo Mira
Memphis la Blusera

Marcelo began playing drums when he was eleven years old. Since then he’s done a lot of sessions work in his professional career. In 1981 he recorded the first LP of the "Preludio" band with them. Before 1986 he played in some groups that were not as well known. In that year he joined "El 60", a band that includes some if Argentina’s legendary rock musicians.

In 1988 Marcelo recorded with "Clark Kent" for their debut album and in 1989 joined the successful Latin rock band "Los Guarros", recording four CDs. "Los guarros" supported "Prince", "The Cult", "Brian May", "Joe Coker" and "Guns n´ Roses" during their respectives visits to Argentina.

In 1993 Marcelo played with Rudy Sarzo (former bassist for Whitesnake and Quiet Riot) when he visited Argentina. Later in 1994 he was one of the four Argentine drummers who played in the first Zildjian Day in Buenos Aires with Dennis Chambers, Will Calhoum, and Alex Acuña. Marcelo was considered the revelation of the event. That same year he occupied the drum throne in a female blues band: "Las Blacanblus".

In 1995 his first drum book was released under the title: " Batería desde el primer día". (Drums since first day). In 1996 he recorded the second album for "Las Blacanblus", called "Rituales", and the same year he also performed on the come-back album of "Los Guarros" titled: "Pampas Lisergicas". During 1997 his first video-clinic was released, named "Marcelo Mira in class", and later Marcelo recorded the third CD with "Las Blacanblus", named "Especial en vivo". This album was recorded live in the Broadway theatre in Buenos Aires.

In 1998 Marcelo was called to join the multi-platinum blues band: "Memphis la Blusera", the most popular blues band in Argentina, recording their CD: "Hoy es hoy". He also recorded Javier Calamaro’s debut album: "Diez de corazones". In his spare time, Marcelo's managed to write some columns in several music magazines. He also recorded some tracks for "Cuatro vientos", a band formed by saxs and for "Beto Solas", a folklorist singer. In 1999 he recorded the live CD: "El acústico" with Memphis la Blusera. That same year his second drum book was released, entitled: "10 recetas magistrales".

In 2000 he played with Memphis in the Second Argentine Festival in Miami and did a lot of gigs touring Argentina. In 2001 he recorded a new CD with Memphis, la Blusera: "Angelitos culones", and later in 2002 they were the first Argentine band that played at the Colon theatre with the National Symphonic Orchestra. The concert was recorded, and the album was released later. That same year they celebrated their 25 anniversary with a concert at the legendary Luna Park arena. That concert was also recorded.

In 2003 the CD of Memphis la Blusera and the National Symphonic Orchestra at the Colon theatre was finally edited and released. That same year he played with Gregg Bissonette at the Astral theatre in Buenos Aires. In 2004 the CD 25 anniversary of Memphis la blusera was released, that cd was recorded live at the Luna Park arena. In June 2005 Marcelo shared a clinic with intenational drummer Marco Minnemann.
