Artur Malik

Artur graduated from the Jazz and Entertainment Department at the Academy of Music in Katowice. Since 1992 he has worked as a teacher at the Kraków Academy of Jazz and Entertainment. His career as a percussionist and arranger began with the Lombard group and the results of their collaborations can be found on six CDs: Koncert, Welcome Home, Największe Przeboje, Afryka and De ja vu.

Besides this long and fruitful relationship with Lombard, Artur has also been working with the following groups: Little Egoist, Chłopcy z Placu Broni (Kocham Cię and Największe Przeboje), For Dee, Zanderhaus (36,6), Urszula (Biała Droga). He also recorded CDs with Maciej Zębaty, Anna Tretter (Na południe), Funk de Nite (What? So what. and J-5), Piwnica Ŝw. Norberta (Krótka historia czasu), Kultura (Kultura) and Bluesmobile (Pojedynczy Człowiek).

His other musical projects include collaborations with many outstanding artists, such as “Pod Budą” group, Majka Jeżowska, Marek Raduli, Jarek Śmietana, Mietek Jurecki, Paweł Mąciwoda (Scorpions), Motion Trio, Giganci Gitary, Steve Logan, Steve Hooks, Saskia Laroo, Waren Bird among others.

As a universal musician he has taken part in diverse forms of musical presentation. Artur has played at many festivals including Opole, Sopot, San Remo, East West, Budapest, Lille. He has also performed all around the world – in Europe, USA, Canada, Asia and Africa. Lately he has been performing in Joe Zawinul’s club Birdsland (the first Polish band at this stage), lighting up the stage with his precise dyamics and unique drive and feeling.
