Martin Ranscombe (a.k.a. the ‘DrumGuru') is a professional drummer and teacher who specialises in drum set tuning education. 

His passion for drums started nearly 30 years ago and, coupled with a natural tendency to experiment with pretty much anything ( steady now…! ), has developed, stolen and modified many ideas and methods relating to tuning and enhancing the sound of drums.

Appointed in 2005 as a clinician and educator for Aquarian drumheads and Mapex drums, Martin is eager to ‘spread the word' about the importance of good tuning and to de-mystify this often thorny subject. Above all, he believes that tuning drums should be a fun part of being a drummer not ‘an evil necessity' as it is often regarded.

Recent events include some tuning masterclasses at the Rhythm Course in Bath; a clinic alongside that top bloke – Mr Craig Blundell; being resident ‘tuning guru' at the UK National Drum Fair and the annual jaunt to present clinics at the Amsterdam Vintage & Custom Drum Show.
