Josh Birkhimer

Josh hails from Columbus, Ohio, where he grew up in a musical family. He realized at an early age that music was the direction he wanted for his life as well. According to Josh's parents, at one year of age he showed a passion for the drums by turning over all the trashcans in the house in order to make a set. His father, a professional trumpet player, introduced him to a diverse range of music growing up, and became a tremendous influence on Josh.

At age 11, Josh began to study privately and continued all the way through high school. He started playing professionally with his father's band when he turned 15. His band played a wide variety of styles; which was a great learning experience. He was fortunate enough to attend both The Ohio State University and The University of Kentucky, where he was challenged with many different playing situations.

After several years of working on cruise ships, at theme parks, and with club bands, Josh decided to move to Nashville to pursue work there. Since moving to town, Josh has been an in demand touring/session drummer for artists like Andy Griggs, Eddy Raven, The Sons Of The Desert, Lionel Cartwright, Gary Chapman, Ashley Cleveland, and Jo-El Sonnier. He is currently enjoying a busy schedule playing with Earl Thomas Conley; a new female duo, Magnolia; and a 9-piece R&B band, Burning Las Vegas. In addition, Josh is working up material with alternative rock band, Beyond Sunday, in preparation of their next album.
