Top Mapex endorsee Nick DeVirgilio hosted at the Drum Garden for a night

Monday night (December, 18th 2008) saw Nick DeVirgilio (Spock’s Beard/Tears for Fears) perform a drum clinic at Solent University, Southampton, for The Drum Garden teaching facility. Close to 100 people turned out to see the Spock’s Beard drummer, front man and guitarist perform a blistering set – starting with some tracks from Spock’s Beard, Nick then entered into a thundering solo before breaking for the raffle to be called. Nick then started the second half by picking up his acoustic guitar and showing off his vocal skills, before swapping the guitar for a Cajon, and again singing.

He then returned to the his Blue Galaxy Burst finish Saturn kit with another Spock’s Beard track and ended the show with a medley of some of his favourite rock tracks that Nick had recorded himself, playing both the Bass and Guitar parts (actually he was bored on a day off so decided to learn and record the guitar parts!!)….which ended with him thrashing along to the end of Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ whilst also singing the vocal part.

It was a truly inspiring clinic and most of the crowd hung around until the last minute to chat to Nick and ask questions… The Saturn Blue Galaxy Burst finish kit created a great buzz and most people commented on how good the kit looked and sounded. Top job Nick!
