WILL CALHOUN'S CANADIAN TOUR
Grammy award-winning drummer of Living Colour, Will Calhoun, performed his first series of drum clinics in Canada this fall. Calhoun started his rapid-fire tour across the country on September 28 th in Calgary, Alberta. He then made his way to Edmonton on the 29 th, Toronto on the 30 th, and finally Montreal on October 1 st. Excited fans and enthusiasts packed the venues to study Will’s unique improvisational technique, ask him questions, and meet the man in person.
“It was a great thing to see him live and talk to him,” said one eager attendee of Calhoun. “He’s an extremely nice guy and a great player…definitely very unique,” said another.
Prizes were raffled off at the end of every performance including Mapex “Quick-Dry” Drum Shirts, Mapex Caps, and the grand prize of a limited edition Black Panther G2 Tribal Stainless Steel Snare.
“He is a huge influence for many Canadian drummers,” remarked SF Marketing’s Mapex Product Manager, Sami Kizilbash. “The host music stores put in a lot of effort and it paid off with a great response from fans and drum students. We hope to see Will back in Canada very soon.”
Since his switch to Mapex Drums last year, Will has performed Mapex clinics in Germany, Holland, Budapest, Hungary, New Zealand, Indonesia, USA, and France. The Canadian clinics were hosted by Axe Music ( Calgary and Edmonton), Just Drums ( Toronto), and Drum Bazar ( Montreal). Will performed on Mapex Pro M and Saturn Series custom configuration drumsets.
