Mapex Announces the Limited Edition
Saturn Sub-Sonic Kits

Dorval, QC - Mapex proudly announces the Special Edition Saturn Sub-Sonic. The Saturn Sub-Sonic drums feature a massive 24” x 20” bass drum, 14” rack tom, 16” and 18” floor toms, and a deep 14” x 7” snare.

Specially designed for professional touring, the Saturn’s 5.1mm ultra-thin 6-ply shells provide a dynamic range of sound. Four exterior plies of North American maple wrap around two thin interior plies of high-quality walnut, creating a shell with incredible full-bodied tone and extra low-end punch. The Sub-Sonic’s 45º bearing edges allow for optimal shell contact with its Remo Weatherking Ambassador drumheads. When tuned up high, the toms sing brightly; when tuned down, they hum with a deep, dark, fat precision.

“I absolutely LOVE the new Saturn Special Edition drum set! First and foremost, I really think that the 24” x 20” bass drum has a lot of great low-end sound and tone,” commented Greg Bissonette (Joe Satriani, Santana, Ringo Starr) after testing a Sub-Sonic prototype. “I would love to use it on a great heavy rock CD or tour [but] there are many styles of music that I think it would be great for. The Saturn Sub-Sonic is offered in two vintage-style sparkle finishes: Root Beer Sparkle and Regal Blue Sparkle. These new hand-rubbed finishes are the result of a distinctive lacquering technique that leaves the drums with a sandpaper-like texture and feel. This special edition kit also comes with a free 5-piece drum bag set, convenient for touring drummers.

As a limited edition, there are only 100 Sub-Sonic kits available worldwide, and 20 of these will be made available in Canada. Suggested Retail Price is $3,699 CDN.
